1992 Mercury Tracer
The 1992 Mercury Tracer is basically unchanged since the previous model that
had a complete makeover. The Mercury Tracer is almost Ford Escort's clone except
for some distinctive designs. It is available in two trims, the sedan and wagon
which include four-door notchback or four-door wagon. The Tracer base models are
being powered by 1.9-liter four-cylinder engine that can generate only 88 horsepower.
On the other hand the powertrain of the highline LTS which features a dual-overhead-cam,
a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine kicks at 127 horsepower a bit stronger the latter
powertrain. As the Ford Escort launched additional four-door sedans that share a bodyshell
with Tracer, the buyers have had some more cars to choose from. Therefore making
more competition with the sales hence the Ford Escort GT and the Mercury Tracer
LTS are mini-sport sedans that are sharing many components, such as the 127 horsepower-generating
powertrain, four-wheel disc brakes, and sport suspension. The LE or LX-E offers
split folding rear seat, designed for either greater cargo capacity or passengers.
